If you have, I know exactly how you feel. I have spent the last 6 months posting on Craigslist while working with and against the Craigslist police. I have had accounts suspended, had my ads flagged and ghosted and lost literally dozens of hours due to my lack of knowledge and experience with posting business ads on Craigslist.

As I began to research solutions to my posting problems, I came across several articles that seemed to know how to deal with Craigslist.  However, these articles always left out critical details and lacked step by step instructions and were not much help in posting these ads on Craigslist.  To the credit of the the authors of these articles, Craigslist is an ever evolving classified entity that you have to keep up with.

Introduction to Craigslist

Craigslist is one of the most visited sites on the internet.  Millions of people search through Craigslist every day.  The first thing you need to understand is that the people who are searching on Craigslist are not there to find your MLM or business opportunity.  These people are most likely out of work, looking for a better job or are looking for a part time job.  These people are looking for an hourly wage, mindless, life wasting job.

Craigslist has adopted a policy of concern for the readers of their site and not necessarily for the ad poster.  How do I know this?  2 years ago when I first started posting classified “For Sale” ads with Craigslist, I ran into a little snag.  I was posting a used work truck for sale that I no longer needed.  To my bewilderment they promptly flagged and removed my ad.  I went into the Craigslist forum and asked the administrator to look at my ad and explain why the ad would get flagged and removed.  I was told that I was asking too much money for a truck of that type.  WHAT?  How did they know what my truck was worth?  It was a work truck with a work body on it and lots of modifications which adds considerable value to the vehicle.  Needless to say I was a bit shocked that they would not allow an ad to be posted if it offended their delicate, albeit naive sensibilities.  So armed with this disappointing information I was able to understand the rest of their policies.  Craigslist believes that ALL ‘Business Opportunity’,  ‘Home Based Business’, and yes even your world’s best  ‘Network Marketing Business’ to be a scam with the only reason that you are there is to rip off their unsuspecting and innocent readers.

Now that you understand a little bit of how Craigslist works, it will be much easier to deal with this love-hate relationship for the rest of your Craigslist posting days.
